We have a problem with gun violence. There is no way that gets fixed with more guns and more gun violence. What the ever loving hell?

When you say gun violence isn’t solved with more guns and gun violence and someone is like, but wait a minute… are you sure?

Yes. Yes, I’m sure. We’re proving that every single day. Every single day we stand idly by and do nothing but throw more guns at the problem and hope that helps.

It. Doesn’t. Help.

Seriously. The answer is making sure at the very least all the guns in the house are secured to a certain standard (a required thumbprint lock on the case would be nice) so the teenager never gets a hold of a gun. (if you think a kid can afford a black market gun when they decide on a whim they wanna shoot up the school you’re dumb) If they do get a hold of their parents gun despite the lock (meaning it was left unlocked or they were allowed by the parents to have it) then the parents should be fined or serve time based on what kind of damage the child did with it. If the teen never gets a hold of a gun, the first shot never goes off. So the teacher never has to use a gun. Because there will be no shooter in the first place.

Giving teachers guns would be so complicated. Do they shoot as soon as they see the gun? Do they wait for the kid to use it before they shoot? Do they shoot to kill or shoot to just knock them down? If they shoot them in the leg the kid can still keep shooting. So what if they get shot but not taken down and then start shooting at the teacher next? If the student knows the teacher has a gun he’ll probably shoot the teacher first, actually. Do they shoot a kid who has a pocket knife? Do they shoot the kid beating another kid up? Or do they only shoot in response to a gun? What if they miss and hit someone innocent? Giving teachers guns isn’t going to help. There will still be deaths and injuries. It might help stop as many people being killed as there could have been but there will still be shots fired. The goal should be NO shots fired.
